What we’ve been up to: 12 February
It’s our favourite day of the week...it's Friday!! As the week whizzes past let us take a look at what our H+Kers have been up to...
The H+K Financial and Professional Services team have been working with King’s College London since the beginning of the year on an exciting new international partnership with Arizona State University and UNSW Australia; called the PLuS Alliance. Members of the team attended the official launch on Tuesday, where the principals of the three institutions were quizzed on their goals for the initiative by former BBC journalist Emily Buchanan.
This will see the universities conducting joint research into solving world problems relating to health, social justice and global sustainability – so there was certainly no lack of ambition on display! It was the first event to be held in Kings’ newly acquired location Bush House, the spectacular former headquarters of the BBC World Service. Given the scale of the project, which covers a network of over 870,000 alumni and 10,000 combined educators and researchers in three separate continents, the location was particularly fitting. The work starts now for the PLuS Alliance, and if you’re interested in finding out more then do visit the website to keep up with their progress.
How does a smartphone with a 7-day battery life sound to you?
This week H+K’s Energy and Industrials team worked with Intelligent Energy, a fuel cell technology company from the UK, to announce an extremely exciting agreement to embed a hydrogen fuel cell in a smartphone.
The deal, with an emerging smart phone developer, will pave the way to giving smartphones 7-days of battery life! The team arranged an interview with Bloomberg and the CEO of Intelligent Energy, and secured coverage in CNBC, the Mail Online, The Sun, Metro and the Mirror.
Looks like we’re not the only ones excited about a phone battery that lasts 7-days!
Energy and Climate Change Secretary Amber Rudd visited Intelligent Energy’s Headquarters in Loughborough recently where she was given a behind the scenes look at some of the hydrogen fuel cell technology being used to power the next generation of consumer electronic devices, such as smartphones and laptops, by the world’s leading clean energy company.
Already on my wish list!!
How many of you love the taste of water? Over at the Food and Drink team they have been working on a mission with Robinsons to get the nation to Enjoy Drinking More Water.
The team were tasked with launching the new campaign platform with a bang to create awareness and drive consumer engagement.
To kick-start the activity, they conducted a poll revealing that 70% of Brits are going seven hours or move without a single glass of water! And one in six people believe alcohol counts towards their recommended daily intake! Yikes!
Armed with some eye-opening stats, the team released a story to national media and held a broadcast day with key national and regional titles to highlight the problem. The story achieved a strong media response, generating a reach of over 111million and more than 50 pieces of national print, online and broadcast coverage – including Sky News, Mirror Online and The Sun.
However, they didn’t just want to highlight the problem, they wanted to provide the solution!
Understanding that only 22% of Brits ‘love’ the taste of water, the team created the ‘Squash Squad’, a crack team of delivery drivers who navigated three cities: London, Birmingham and Manchester, in their hydration vehicles, responding to tweets from offices across the city calling out for squash using the hashtag #enjoyRobinsons.
Celebrity influencers were also sent a personalised gift package containing a cute emoji glass and some new Robinsons SQUASH’D flavours to encourage them to stay hydrated!
With a little help from our friends on this mission social posts from Henry Holland, Denise Van Outen, Edith Bowman and Dave Berry, helped reach an additional 3million people.
Watch out…this is only start of the campaign, you’ll soon be SQUASH’D too!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!!
