What we've been up to: 11 December

This week has been as busy as always, including everything from Dubai and the European Excellence Awards to COP21 and H+K’s Christmas Jumper Day!

The Sports Marketing & Sponsorship team kicked off its work with HSBC on the World Rugby Sevens Series in Dubai this week. The theme for the tournament was ‘breaking new ground’ as the sport prepares for its first ever inclusion in the Olympics in 2016. Olympic legend Michael Johnson was HSBC’s special guest at the tournament and H+K ensured he had a full schedule, including a media roundtable with HSBC’s Giles Morgan, World Cup Winner Jason Robinson and Chief Exec of World Rugby, Brett Gosper. H+K’s Simon Shaw and Vikki Chowney were also in Dubai this week, continuing the rollout of the 3P Communications thinking and purpose-driven storytelling model across H+K’s global network. They spent two days showing the Dubai team some of our work from the London office and also carried out a series of clinics to support the teams on practical applications of the process.

Over the past two weeks, E+I has been supporting climate change think tank E3G with their media outreach at COP21, the UN summit for tackling climate change. The summit has seen over 150 world leaders attend in order to curb global emissions and halt the rate of global warming. E3G has been busy dissecting the negotiations and our team has been working hard from London to make sure the media has been reporting fairly on the outcomes, using E3G’s spokespeople. Interviews have proven very successful with regular appearances on BBC, ITV and ongoing briefings with Financial Times, The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, in order to share any insight with the media. As talks reach a head this weekend, they will be looking to maximise this good work even further.

Congratulations are due to H+K Spain and H+K Athens for their wins in the eponymous ‘Spain’ and ‘Greece’ categories at the European Excellence Awards last night! In addition, Tata Communications won in the ‘Telecommunications’ category for ‘Where Does the Internet Come From?’, a brilliant campaign from H+K London.

On Wednesday, the NetApp team celebrated another successful year, organising a Christmas lunch with six core technology and business media in attendance at Skylon, London. There were custom-made Christmas crackers full of tech related “jokes” to stimulate fun and productivity. Everyone had a great time and both client and team are looking forward to another busy year in 2016!

To finish this week’s report on a festive note, Xmas Jumper day at H+K HQ happened today! It was done in aid of Text Santa – please click here if you wish to find out more or to donate to this great charity appeal!
