HSBC Expat Explorer survey now open

HSBC’s 2016 Expat Explorer survey is now open. Now in its 9th year, the survey invites expats from across the globe to share their experiences with others already living abroad, as well as aspiring expats. Last year we had an overwhelming outpouring of opinion with nearly 22,000 expats commenting on the various facets of their lives abroad, and feeding into our economics, experience, family and overall league tables.

Many of the respondents that bolster our findings, and dictate the outcome of our well-respected league table, also form the community of Twitter followers and Facebook fans that help guide soon to be expats into their lives abroad. One of the questions that we often get asked amid the launch day fanfare is whether we’re able to link aspiring expats with experienced expats who have already made that leap into the unknown. Handily, our Hints and Tips tool made up of the crowdsourced words of advice from expats the world over, allows us to connect these curious prospective expats to the many learnings compiled from our long standing global network.

With all that said, after months of planning, preparation and survey drafts it’s easy to forget that Expat Explorer is so much more than just a survey with an impressive base size. It’s a collection of stories from people during what is one of the most rewarding but also challenging time of their lives, as they started anew in uncharted territory. Content like the Different Perspectives video we curated helps to give meaning to the data once again, and make these stories come alive.

For those of you who are now living abroad, we invite you to tell us your story about the life you lead. Share your experiences of life abroad, join the 22,000 who did so last year and inspire the next generation of expats to do so too. Fill out our survey here.

And of course, stay tuned for the results later this year!
