Institute for Economics and Peace: Global Peace Index

2020 marks twelve successful years of supporting the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) and its flagship Global Peace Index report, the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness.

Working with teams across our global network, H+K London is the media hub for the annual report launches and consistently generate over 750 pieces of international coverage. This year, despite the challenges faced by COVID-19 and a busy news agenda, the team secured coverage in tier-one outlets such as Politico, The Guardian and Forbes. We also landed wires, such as Reuters, DPA, and EFE to elevate the story further, particularly in non-English speaking markets.

To overcome the saturation of reports and indices in the market, the team executed a finely tuned launch week media plan to ensure an impact. This includes consecutive days of under embargo interviews with Steve Killelea, the Founder and Executive Chairman of the IEP, with leading titles ranging from Sky News and CNBC to Dubai Eye and the Daily Telegraph podcast.

Prior to launch, the team engaged high-priority media targets to collaborate with journalists on feature content timed for publication on launch day. This resulted in an in-depth data visualisation story on Sky News.

In total, we secured the 2020 GPI over pieces of coverage.
