Chinese New Year is set to take place this week and this year it falls on February 5th. The associated festivities typically run for two weeks, starting with New Year’s Eve celebrations on the 4th and ending with the Lantern Festival on February 19th.

Our colleagues in Greater China will be celebrating with their families and friends but it is equally significant for Chinese communities around the world too – celebrations will also be happening across major cities across the world.

This year, I was very lucky to be part of the British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Chinese New Year reception at No. 10 Downing Street last week where members of the British Chinese communities, businesses and members of the government came together to celebrate the incoming Year of the Pig. A clip of me being interviewed by Phoenix TV at this event can be viewed here.

I joined H+K over a year ago to work on the Shanghai Addition which was launched at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in 2017 and is backed by our H+K network and WPP. It is also an extension of London’s Global Center of Creative Strategy. Since then, my colleague Jill Peng and I have worked on and supported many teams on numerous China inbound and outbound projects, pitches and business development initiatives.

With Greater China being one of the key drivers in the global economy, the Shanghai Addition serves to support our clients in connecting China with audiences, cultures and markets around the world, helping them grow creatively and quickly into key geographies.

Working closely with our Greater China colleagues, we are always here to support the H+K network so please feel free to reach out and speak to either of us on all things Chinese.

In the meantime, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone celebrating Chinese New Year a prosperous and auspicious Year of the Pig.
